Master Keyboard
Master Keyboard (Menu / Scene Part / Master Keyboard / Tx Mode) allows flexible control of internal and external zones per Scene. Each Part can control internal, external, or both, depending on the setting.
Tx Mode
Off – Local part is active – no external MIDI transmitted for this Part,
On – Local part is active – external MIDI transmitted on the receive channel (Scene / Part / MIDI / Rx channel)
MKB – Local part is inactive – external MIDI transmitted on the MKB channel (one line down from Tx Mode)
Local Off (Menu / System / Midi / Local Sw) is a global setting that disables the connection to the internal sound engine – similar to turning all Tx Mode switches to MKB. (note – need to check if the transmit channel still follows the above selections)
Remote Keyboard
Remote Keyboard (Menu / System / Midi / Remote Keyboard) is as if you were playing from the -X series keyboard. It is the only current way to remotely use the Arp functions. BUT — it is not channel specific, so it WILL respond to any data on any MIDI channel it receives. For example, if it gets a Middle C on any channel, it will trigger all active Parts that could play middle c, either directly or via Arp.
For sanity in a large rig, you need to add an external MIDI channel filter to let only one channel get in to the -X series. There are many software and interface box solutions for this. A channel selector for Remote Keyboard is on our wish list.
Seamless Scene & Tone Switching
Changing Tones within a Scene is essentially seamless. Might be a small transient from the Tone/Part effect, such as Juno noise going on or off. This is true regardless of Arp status.
Changing Scenes is mostly seamless
- Held tones will continue unchanged through a Scene Change, and continue even as you play notes in the new Scene.
- The difference in Scene effects may cause a transient sound – such as changing from a Scene with a long delay or reverb time, or heavy chorus or drive settings.
- Changes into or out of a Scene with the Arp active will not be seamless.
Held notes will not continue through a second Tone or Scene change, but will drop.
RD Pianos are a special case of effects changes dropping the sound on change – in this case the sympathetic resonance, which is only available in Part 1, and happens in both the Tone and Scene changes, as the effect is ended with the change and cuts the sound. Use the RD in Parts 2-4 and this does not happen.
